We're absolutely thrilled to announce Disability Advocate, Product and Accessibility Lead at Canva, Steve King, as a mentor in our Climate Salad community.

There are many examples of co-design benefiting startups and technology companies across the sector and creating opportunities for people to participate in that process can seem complex.

Participation in the workforce for people with disabilities in Australia is significantly lower than the national average for non-disabled people and decisions we make as product designers and leaders can adversely affect the opportunities not just within our organisation, but within the industry as a whole.

Steve King
is Product Lead for Design System and Accessibility at Canva and is founder of the Jessica King Fellowship, which aims to create opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the startup community. Steve has been working in the tech industry for over 20 years and has a passion for making a social impact using technology. Steve has used his experience to understand, write and speak on the patient experience in healthcare, accessibility, and inclusion and co-found a startup which uses technology to give people with disabilities greater independence.

Steve has a passion to connect people with needs and lived experience with problem solvers who want to have an impact to co-design more inclusive experiences.

Don't take our word for it, see for yourself and hear Steve's talk on Entrepreneurship and Disability - a match made in heaven at Spark Festival
