About the Mission

Queensland Government and Climate Salad are partnering to take up to 10 Queensland climate tech companies to San Francisco and Verge Climate Tech Event in October 2023 as part of the Building Queensland's Climate Tech Industry project.With the support of the Climate Salad team, experienced mentors and industry experts, you'll have the resources and guidance you need to navigate new markets and drive growth.Climate Salad's San Francisco International Trade Mission includes a week of in-country networking, introductions and information sessions for high-potential Australian climate tech ventures interested in expanding to the US. The program gives you tailored customer introductions and mentorship, and the opportunity to exhibit and participate in Verge Climate Tech Event.

In-Country Program and Support
  • Climate Salad team support while in-country

  • Introductions to Climate Salad's US networks of industry leaders, mentors and investors

Who is This For?

Queensland founders of a startup or scaleup business with the following requirements:

  • You can commit to the dates 22-27 October 2023
  • You are able and willing to travel to San Francisco during the key dates
  • Have headquarters in Queensland
  • Be export-capable and export-ready
  • Be prepared to adapt the product or service for the new market
  • Be flexible regarding the market-entry method
  • Have resources to support marketing and development for a new market
  • You understand how attendance and collaboration opportunities during the trade mission matches the stage you are at in progressing your innovative solution; or will build capability or enable innovation participation in your region, community or industry sector
  • Your attendance and collaboration opportunities at the event will support your contribution to building Queensland’s innovation community
Eligibility Requirements

You must:
  • Be the founder or a senior leader of a climate tech business headquartered in Queensland as of August 2023
    Climate tech is defined as a “scaleable tech-enabled product (hardware or software) that helps solve climate or environmental problems”
  • Have an employee number between 3 and 300 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Have a website featuring the product or service
  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • Submit only one application per ABN
  • You can commit to travel to San Francisco during the key dates 22-27 October 2023
  • You are able and willing to cover your own travel costs during the program
  • You can attend virtual pre-trip market intelligence workshops during October
